My most important accomplishment was getting through my senior year of high school despite a brain and spinal injury. At times I didn’t think I was going to be able to manage the pain, but I persevered and graduated on time. This event changed my life, but I made it — which is a big deal for me. William Smith, Emilie’s stepfather, is employed by Lifetouch National School Studios, Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
